Questions for the followers...

I believe this is when we in blog-land need to begin to decide exactly *how* much personal information really gets to be shared with readers.  Granted, I only have three followers -- is it okay that I celebrate this??  I am just not sure how comfortable I am 1) Sharing lots of personal information and 2) Not being honest about my life in terms of my creativity goes.  Shall we put it to a vote, maybe?  All three of you chime on in?  That of course requires you to *magically* know I've finally have a new post AND comment on said new post.  We'll give a shot, and I'll write more when I've figured this query out.  Hopefully it won't take *quite* so long this time!

~happy sewing!

p.s.  I actually have a sew date today, and will hopefully actually have something sewing related to post later today or tomorrow.  Yay!

  1. Ultimately, you need to decide how much disclosure you're comfortable with. The way I decide is:

    a) Would I be okay with my mother reading this? Because you know she will, eventually.

    b) Would you be okay with your in-laws reading this? You never know.

    c) Would you be embarrassed if future employers read this?

  2. I agree with Jasmin. I still think about who I give my url to, and what I write about. Some of it just does itself, and I've been able to work it back from painfully open to tidily meaningful. Most of the time. Another reason to write in the word processor, let it sit, then copy and paste. Also, really proud of you!

  3. If I'm sharing something about my personal life, it is usually disguised as a generic: The Hubby, The Dork Boy, School, etc. Those who know me in real life know who and what I'm talking about. If you haven't met me in person, they still make great stories, but they are not so identifiable.

Ultimately, you need to be honest with yourself about how much info you want out there. And then think about the future, if in two/four/ten years someone goes looking for all your back posts. I definitely like Laura's suggestions to write, save it as a draft, and let it sit for a day or two before posting.

I absolutely LOVE getting comments, and I read all of them. If I don't respond, please know that it isn't because I didn't see it. It is purely because I didn't have the time and/or health to write a personal response. Thank you for understand, and keep up the commenting, they make my day!
